In December 2022, China-based sensor company Shanghai Sunshine Technologies Co. has signed a declaration of intent, a so-called Memorandum of Understanding, with JonDeTech about jointly developing a prototype for an application that when using an IR sensor together with the Thermal Painter application/algorithm and other sensors in the Smartphone it will be possible to “paint” a high resolution picture with the phone and get a thermal image although only using a low cost one pixel thermopile sensor.
The intended prototype, together with an IR sensor integrated into the mobile phone, will be able to display a thermal image using JonDeTech’s patented sensor solution. If this is successful, new areas of use and applications will become possible where a simple, cheap IR sensor can show high-resolution thermal images on the mobile phone. The prototype will primarily be used for market research to clarify the possibilities of commercializing this application.
This cooperation involves our integrated infrared thermopile sensor, namely STP10DB51G2. The STP10DB51G2 comprising a new type CMOS compatible thermopile sensor chip features small size, high reliability and good sensitivity. A high-precision digital temperature sensor is also integrated for ambient temperature compensation.
JonDeTech is a supplier of sensor technology. The company markets a portfolio of IR sensor elements based on proprietary nanotechnology and silicon MEMS. In December 2020, JonDeTech announced that it had received a patent for an application that can read infrared radiation to paint thermal images with a smartphone using a simpler IR sensor.
